Receptionist

About us: Compass Immigration Law is an established legal practice with a head office based in Bolton. We specialise in Immigration, Asylum, Human Rights and Nationality Law and assist clients in a private capacity and those funded by the Legal Aid Agency.

Job Description: With Compass Immigration Law, no two days are the same. Working independently and as a unit, you will be at the forefront of providing and maintaining our record for excellent client care. Your ability to use initiative, your flair for organisation and your extreme attention to detail shall place you in great stead to thrive as a valued member of our growing team.

Your job role will include, but not limited to:

  • Greeting clients and dealing with general enquiries
  • Screening calls and taking detailed and accurate messages
  • Maintaining telephone, visitor and post logs
  • Managing and distributing all incoming and outgoing post and couriers
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Liaising with clients and third parties, where appropriate, for routine enquiries and updates on a regular basis
  • Maintaining meeting rooms and Reception tidiness
  • Receive client payments via Credit Card PDF machine, cheque and cash, issue receipts and maintain records of all card payments, settle the PDF machine at the end of the day
  • Communicating and corresponding with the Home Office, Tribunal and other third parties by letter, email and telephone
  • Photocopying, scanning, binding and filing documents in readiness for service on the Tribunal and/or the Home Office
  • Updating client files and information on the internal case management system
  • Assist with file management and maintain accurate filling systems
  • Processing and archiving documents and files
  • Provide general administrative and secretarial support to the fee earners
  • Assisting the Practice Manager with administrative duties and the day to day running of the Practice

Essential requirements:

  • Confident with all Microsoft Office packages
  • Polite telephone manner
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage and handle large volumes of documents
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills being profession and confident when dealing with clients and third parties
  • Eye for detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Trustworthy and reliable

Though not essential, previous administrative experience would be desirable.

Salary: Salary is dependent on experience.

Immigration & Asylum (IAAS Accredited) Casework Assistant (Level 1) and Senior Caseworker (Level 2)

About us: Compass Immigration Law is an established legal practice with a head office based in Bolton. We specialise in Immigration, Asylum, Human Rights and Nationality Law and assist client’s in a private capacity and those funded by the Legal Aid Agency.

Job Description: Compass Immigration Law are currently looking for an experienced Immigration and Asylum Casework Assistant (Level 1) and Senior Caseworker (Level 2) with comprehensive expertise of dealing with a full range of immigration and asylum work with a predominant emphasis on Legal Aid funded work.

The successful candidate should have experience of working under a Legal Aid Contract and to SQM standards. You will have conduct of a full caseload and be expected to work independently and under the supervision of the Principal Supervising Immigration Consultant.

The role will include travel to other offices and outreach locations.

Key Skills Required: You must:

  • Be registered with the Law Society as an Immigration and Asylum (IAAS) Casework Assistant (Level 1) and Senior Caseworker (Level 2);
  • Have thorough and up to date knowledge of immigration, asylum and nationality laws;
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Salary: Salary is dependent on experience.

Job type: 12 months fixed term – Possibility for extension or permanent role.
